Kuupkulgur Ulysses.
The project.
Kuupkulgur Ulysses is a real Estonian lunar rover initiative. I built a VR simulation of the rover in Unreal Engine, letting people drive it across lunar terrain and interact with its systems before the hardware ever leaves Earth.
What I focused on.
- Physics accuracy: wheel dynamics, low-gravity behaviour and terrain interaction tuned to feel like the Moon, not a game level.
- Environment realism: lunar surface modelling and lighting that matches real reference imagery.
- Interactive systems: the rover's instruments and controls work inside the simulation, not just as props.
The project combined programming, 3D design and science communication inside a multidisciplinary team, which meant translating between engineers, designers and researchers on a regular basis.
